Top Ten Books/Movies To Read Or Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit OR Top Ten Characters Who I Would Totally Want To Be For Halloween

Ok, the topics this week are hard both of them because I don’t get Halloween at all. Have never celebrated it, even though I know more and more people here in Sweden do these days. And I generally don’t like scary stuff, probably because sudden noises make me jump high into the air, but having said that I’m going to give this a try, so here are books/films/tvshows that I would pick for Halloween.

  1. Sleepy Hollow– this is really a multiple choice tip, you could read the original book by Washington Irving or you could watch the film starring Johnny Depp, or you could watch the tv-series starring Tom Mison. Whichever you choose you’ll get an headless horseman and impending apocalypse in a tiny town.
  2. Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson – I confess to only having seen the musical but there are several films and tv-series, as well as books, based on the same theme of a main character with split personality
  3. Intensity (Psykopaten) by Dean Koontz – scariest book I’ve read. I mean make believe monsters have nothing on a psychopath, which I could encounter in real life.
  4. The turn of the screw by Henry James – a book about a governess that’s hired to take care of two young children in a secluded old house. But after a while she feels like something’s not right.
  5. Penny Dreadful – this tv-series mixes classic characters from scary stories, in the first series you’ll meet among others Dr Frankenstein, Dracula, werewolves, Dorian Gray and Van Helsing.
  6. Dracula by Bram Stoker – don’t think this book and vampire needs anymore introduction. Have inspired many books, tv-series (the latest I can think of starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and films, including one starring Luke Evans you can catch in the cinema over Halloween if you’d like.
  7. Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein – I hardly need to introduce this book either. About a scientist who wants to conquer death.
  8. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street love the music and songs from the musical and I really like the film starring Johnny Depp.
  9. Salemtv-series about that famous town when witches really tried to rule it. Really tests my limits of what I can see sometimes but really good.
  10. The Vampire Chronicles which start off with Interview with the vampire by Anne Rice – have only seen the film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt but I really want to read the books as well. About a vampire who tells his life’s story.

  1. Imponerande lista.
